Program Overview:

The primary purpose of the Bibb County Drug Court Program is to provide a rehabilitative alternative to incarceration and/or commitment to the Department of Community Supervision for the substance abusing offender.

The program is a three-phase intervention program that involves individual, family, and group counseling; frequent and random drug testing; frequent court appearances.

The Court awards incentives for compliant behavior and imposes sanctions for negative behavior. Participants who do not comply with the rules may be moved back to a previous phase of the program, assigned community service work, or placed in temporary custody.

Successful completion of the program results in charges being dismissed from your record.

Program Features:

• Verifiable participation in Self-Help (AA or NA) support group meetings.
• Referral to needed community services.
• Progress toward family, employment, and educational goals.
• The opportunity to make choices that improve self-worth, self-confidence, promote family unity, reveal rewarding career choices, enhance communication, coping and social skills.
• Return to a crime-free, drug free lifestyle.
• 18 months of alcohol and other drug intensive outpatient treatment.
• Specialized treatment services (extended care, co-occurring disorder,
• methamphetamine focus groups) to those who need intensive therapy
• Random drug testing.
• Scheduled Court appearance before the Judge.
• Incentives and sanctions related to progress and non-compliance.

Goals:

• To learn life skills.
• To increase self-esteem and social skills.
• To learn warning signs of relapse and develop a relapse prevention plan.
• To adjust to a healthy drug free lifestyle.
• To enhance employment skills through vocational training and educational pursuits.

Mission:

The mission of the Bibb County Drug Court Program is to reduce crime and recidivism by substance-abusing offenders. The benefits of this program are an increase in the safety and security of the shareholders of this community, a reduction in the population held in custody at the Bibb LEC, and reduction in the number of infants addicted to illegal drugs at birth.
